Layout visits

I’m planning to be in the Charlotte, NC area the last week of April. Are there any layouts in the area that I could take my grandson to visit (he’s 14)?

Not a model, but the NC transportation museum in Spencer is worth seeing. Also, don’t know if you would find it worth the drive, but the Lancaster & Chester RR has (or at least had) a museum and model layout over in Lancaster SC.

Welcome to the forums.

If you go to the top of this page there is a light gray line. Click on RESOURCES, then Model Railroad Groups. I did not see any listed for Charlotte, but if you know any of the other towns in the area, you might find one close to where you will be. If you contact the person listed, they may be able to help you find some places of interest.

Good luck,

Richard

Another suggestion: Charlotte falls into the Carolina Southern Division 12 of the Mid-East Region of the NMRA. You might want to contact one of the Division officials to see if they can put you in contact with local members or clubs willing to invite you to view their layouts. Who knows, you may end up getting invited to an operating session!
