I am new to this form and have built model railways years ago, would like to rec layouts for a 4x8 plywood railway with expansion ideas.

Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of us who have been coming back after a timeout from the hobby. You will find this forum gives lots of answers to questions, some of which are quite useful. You will also find that you get the best answers to specific questions. As you porgress with the planning, keep us posted and we will celebrate your progress with you.

Now that you have the size, you need the scale, the era, the locale and whether you like scenery, running trains, buildings or opperation. Let the fun begin.
