I would like to know the current consumption of the amber leds` that are used in the NJ International position light signals. I have been calling them but have not received a reply back. Knowing this would help determine some of the resistor values in the Paisley signal driving circuit boards.
What you need to know for an LED is the voltage drop. You size the resistor to how much curret you want to flow through the LED, the current rating for an LED is a MAXIMUM and you want to have something less than this.
Unless these are some really odd LEDs, teh forward voltage is probably 2.1V. 8 or 9ma should light them bright enough and be well under the limit.
