LED indicator for Programming Track doubling as Spur

My Programming track is doubling as a Spur. I have it wired so that I can togle from one to the other using a DPDT switch. I would like to wire two LED’s as indicators as to which is on. I know the direction of the toggle does this but I wanted a lighted indicator as well. How should I wire this. I did a search and found out how to wire the togle but I am not seeing anything on how to wire the LED’s.

Thanks,

Scott

My programming track is set up the same way. (I don’t use an LED.)

Assuming that you are using a DPDT switch to switch the track from programming to run (just like I do), you don’t have much of a choice. If you tie an LED to the track, you may interfere with the programming functions and you still won’t know which it is set for. The way I would do it is to use a different switch. A Three Pole, Double Throw type. Wire two poles just like you would the DPDT. Then you can use the third pole (would act like a SPST) to switch one LED power wire from one LED to the other.
