I am looking to add directional lighting to a Walthers (modified) GP9M. One of the modifications was to remove the headlights from the top center of the cab and lower them to the front of the lowered short hood. I also want to add two ditch lights. This lighting configuration is also on the rear of this engine. I also want to maintain a light for the number boards in the cab. Looking for any help with this project. Thanks
I beleive walthers makes a circuit board which can be easily wired for directional lighting, I think the item number is 931-300.For the number boards, you could make a small box or barricade around the inside of the number board so light doesn’t get into the cab, etc and wire the bulbs directly to the trucks or input wires on the circuit board. As for the ditch lights, I think accurate lighting and other companies make them. They are available through walthers. It would help if you checked out their website and searched for the item.
james. Hi!! I’m a Sante Fe modeler, and I,m working on a GP-9 model. I,ve been looking for a good picture of the model that I’m working on.
There is a guy that has classes at Reeds Hobby Shop in La Mesa Ca. 619) 464-1672 that knows alot about wiring for lighting.
If you know of any photo’s of my type engine, let me know.
Take care man!!!

There is a old model railroader ('98)that has a article about about LED headlights and ditch lights using a circuit board and some diodes. From what I remember you could also use another one for the rear lights.
