Hi everyone! I need some feedback on leds. I like to add led lights to my ogauge accessories 5mm led! Can i use my LG phone adapter, and how many lights can i add to the adapter …thank you
Spec on charger-100-240V~50/60Hz 0.2A. Out put/Sortie: 4.8V- 0.9A? all your feedback is Appreciated… I thank you all for your great advice !
Depending upon the answer to the above, how many amps does each LED (or the strand) draw?
If they are individual LEDs, how many are you looking to hook up?
As a general rule, since the key issue with LEDs is over-Volting them if your adapter is ~5V and these are 12V LEDs then you should be OK to try powering them (assuming they don’t draw more amps than the charger can provide, hence my questions above). They may not light up with only 5V, but they may - and it shouldn’t hurt to try. Make sure you get the positive side of the adapter to the positive (anode) side of the LEDs - else they won’t light up (but trying the wrong way shouldn’t hurt them, either - then just swap the + and - around).
At 4.8 volts, they will draw about 6 milliamperes each and put out about one-third of the light that they would have at 12 volts. That may well be enough for your purpose. You should be able to power about 150 of them with that supply.
