I can’t get a full charge to thecab-2(only 2 bars).I have left on charger overnight, but still no results. I measure the total battery voltage 3,75 VDC. The charger voltage is 5.5 V open circuit. Both red lights flash at the same time. The manual does not adress this situation satisfactorily. I have tried discharging the batteries and recharghing . Does not change things.

The rechargeable batteries that came with my Legacy base were defective from the factory. When I powered up the base with the Cab 2 remote in the charging cradle, I immediately got the indication for overheated batteries, two steady red lights on the Legacy base.
I took the Legacy set back to the dealer and he discovered that the factory rechargeable batteries were defective and would not charge or hold a charge. He replaced them with 1.2V NiMH units and they work fine.

My favorite AA rechargeable that I recommend to everyone now is called "Eneloop" by Sanyo. They come precharged and ready to use, have a great shelf life after charging.
Can’t say enough good things about them. Makes Energizer and any other rechargeable a disposable. You can get them on Amazon for a strangely fluctuating price, but they’re fantastic.
Try them and I don’t think you’ll waste your money on any other rechargeable battery out there.
Disclaimer: I have no experience with the Legacy system.
Claimer: Due to many years in the RC airplane hobby I got lots of experience with rechargeable batteries. Sounds like you got one cell out in a 4.6 volt pack. Recommend you replace the pack.

Remove them and use a good high quality battery [not rechargable]. Be sure to turn off the charger in the base. Also, I found this with experience, put electrical tape over charger contacts in base. Even with charger turned off, it will discharge the regular batteries if left for a period in the base. I also found the the new version of software does not lose contact or signal quite as bad with regular batteries. Good luck.
