Legacy begins for me!

Hi folks, As some know I got Legacy for x-mas from my wife.Well, after some help from this forum I got it up and runnin ’ on my layout! I’m only running conventional now with one loco with railsounds and crew talk but I intend to move forward to TMCC locos and Legacy also. I have a long way to go on my new layout and I added Legacy to hopefully enjoy the experience more. I am using Gargraves track which is also new to me. I enjoy this as it’s quite a change from working with Lionel tubular. Ell, that’s my news and thanks to the folks on this forum.

Good for you!!! Now, when you can, go out and get yourself a Legacy equipped locomotive, you will be in for quite a treat!

Amos,

If you need help with GarGraves track just let me know as I have been using it for over six years and like it very well.

A couple of quick notes about GarGraves track; first, it is about the height of 027; second, all three rails are insulated from each other; third, the switch points are insulated on the inside rails and some switches don’t have the center rail power going out of either side(mainly 072 size switches). There are adapter pins to go to 031 track and 027 and Atlas track.

Legacy sounds like a nice system, I hope that you enjoy it! I have DCS and I don’t plan on geting any other control system right now.

Philly- I like the Gargraves track. I’m learning quite a bit;however, I must say I think the switches are a little bit of a pain to work with. Too much wiring in my opinion. I’m still not certain about the non-derail even though I’ve wired for it I still don’t have it, but I’ll figure it out. I am going to check on the features of Ross. If it looks as though the extra money is worth it I may give them a try. Heck, I look forward to running a TMCC loco as well as a Legacy loco!

Amos, I have the Ross Switches, and I think they are fantastic!!! Well worth the investment. And Ross has a HUGE selection! I currently have 072/54 curve, 54 curve, 3 way switch, Y switch, 11 degree switch. If you are going to have 2 switches back to back to connect two parallel track, I strongly suggest using the 11 degree switches. You can space tracks closer together, they are more realistic, and have a very small footprint.

Enjoy. (I use the z1000 switch controllers, and have them connected to a button on a control panel, AND remote operation through the DCS system.
