Legacy System

I am thinking about purchasing a Legacy system. I have an older ZW and an Rs-1 transformer both are in fine working order. What am I going to see with this new system? I have some older locomotives and diesels as well as some brand new ones (Lionel, Atlas MTH). The newer engines have Railsounds/Protosounds. Are there any other costs besides the systems price itself?

Thanks for any advice

The Legacy controller only allows for direct control of equipment that is TrainMaster Command Equipped. If you are trying to control non command equipment, you need additional components. Legacy (and the earlier TMCC command base/CAB-1) keep command signals and power completely separate. You can use any power supply so long as it has enough output voltage and current to run the trains you are trying to use (aka ther is enough total power to run the trains). To run conventional equipment, you need to use some form of remote power control device like a PowerMaster, a TPC (Track Power Controller) or a modern ZW. The later has the equivalent of four updated PowerMasters built in. You can substitute the Legacy controller and Command base in the following illustration:
