Plan to purchase a Legacy set. My LHS said I should wait that lionel is going to upgrade the CAB2. My question is what is this update 1.2 module #14295 and will I need to buy this too. I have a CAB1 now and no problems. I have 1 Legacy engine now ,and plan on pre ordering 2 vision line engines . Please correct me on this and point me in the wright direction.

the legacy update 1.2 was done sometime ago and unless your dealer has old 1.0 units onhand still you should be okay and also look for a silver dot on back of the base unit I think it will have the 1.2 module included with it. so far some of us are having signal to base issues while most are not having as or any problems with it and some have used a hawking antenna to boost it’s signal with good results. so far lionel has been very quite on having any fixes for those of use having problems that said heres the good news. you’ll be amazed at the improved features and how slow you can run a engine in Legacy mode and the sounds and various features are very well and the quilling whistle once you get the hang of it is awesome especially if you have a steam engine thats legacy equipted. while you have the cab-1 which is good the legacy system will let you access features awaiting you with the legacy engine you have now. if your layout is in the open part of room and no walls in way of having line of sight you should be okay its a trial and error thing but for most part those with smaller layouts seem to have the least problems. in closing go for it the legacy is good like anything else new it’s having teething pains. get one you won’t regret it.
