Lego Trains

Does anyone know, what the gauge of Lego track is? Would it be like HO scale?

I doubt it - probably not to any particular scale (the Duplo sets my mom bought my son certainly aren’t), and certainly not to HO.

The gauge of Lego trains is 6 dots. That is just slightly wider than O. The trains are 8 dots wide. The curves are very tight, I would have to measure the radius. The cars are mostly of European influence, or at least they used to be. I know some guys who have made some pretty nifty models using Lego.

8 dots is 2 1/2"

Radius is 12 1/2" center to centerline.

16 curves to the circle.

Lego calls the gauge L gauge and you can get a Santa Fe Super Cheif set
not sure how prototypical it is?
most sets come with 16 curves and 2 straights.

As well as the Santa fe loco and passenger cars there is a BNSF available. There are also some generic looking steam power. My older boy loves this stuff and is really begging for the passenger car sets for Christmas. With ggod behavior, Santa may be listening!

There L guage. They made there own instead of sticking to O or G etc.

L gauge is Lego gauge, which is not useable for any scale gauges.

There’s a group that does an awesome display at one of the train shows in the Chicago area. Can get pretty expensive if you get hooked on it.
