Lehigh Valley horn types

Can anybody out there give me info, or point me to where I can get it, on the type of horns the Lehigh Valley railroad used on their Alco’s, specifically the FA1’s. Normally I wouldn’t care, but I’d like to purchase a QSI sound decoder. They have so many horn selections that I’d like to pick the “right” one.

According to this site, at least one set of FA-1’s had a Nathan M-3.

Scroll down and it is the second one up from the bottom under the Nathan M series listings. There is also a sound bite.

Thank you! A very interesting website!

You are welcome. Yes, I thought it was interesting, also. Note that you may want to get another source or two before investing in a decoder. After all, I don’t know what that horn actually sounds like, so you are sort of relying on what the owner of that site says as being fact.

But, a neat sounding horn none the less.

Ed’s a local and takes many photos and videos of trains running over the various former Anthracite roads. He also brings his horn truck to events around the area and demonstrates them.
