I downloaded the 2003 vol 2 MTH catolog and it says the Railking Mallet 2-8-8-2 USRA steam engine is only 20 7/8" long?!?!? Maybe without the tender? I know it is not scale but that is smaller than my baby hudons!
Anyone have one of these and can shead some light on this. Thanks!
Some of those locos are scaled at 1/58, (can’t say for sure on this Railking mallet,I thought that Railking stuck to 1/48 scale, Kline uses 1/58 on a bunch of thier stuff) so just about anything is possible. I would double check this on any loco that I consider purchase of…
One other thing to consider: In the 1/1 world, some of the mallets were given short tenders to enable them to fit on existing turntables, while a good share of other locomotives were given very huge tenders.
The Railking USRA Mallet (engine and tender) is about 25 inches long including the coupler. That catalog measurement probably should read 24 7/8 inches.
