Does anyone know what the length of the stalls in the ogden roundhouse were. I think stalls 15, 16, 17 were longer in order to maintain challengers and big boys. I believe this were about 300 feet but am looking for someone that might know for sure. I’ve already looked at Don Stack ogden rails…
You may want to take a read through this…
I tried looking through that and it has the 1897 renovation to 20 stalls and 77 feet with a 60 foot turntable which was vacated in 1897. The new roundhouse built in 1927 hadd a 100 foot turntable, 20 stalls but doesn’t have the length of stalls. It does however state that in 1941 the turntable was increased to 135 feet and an additional 153 feet was added to stalls 15 and 16, and 233 feet to stalls 12, 13, and 14. The problem is, I don’t know the original stall length. So, thats the basis of my question so that I can get a basis to start scratchbuilding plans.
I guess I can just email Mr. Strack but I hate to bother him as I know he likely gets lots of questions directed his way.
His book on Ogden was just reprinted maybe you could buy a copy of that.
