Lenz releasing sound module?!?!?

Listed on page 18 of February’s MRR News & Products

Advanced SUSI sound module. Based on 24 bit, 96kHz sound recordings. European and North American protoype sounds available. Price to be announced. Lenz Agency of North America

I don’t think this means sound decoder, but a computer-controlled sound module for mounting under a layout for background sound effects. And the correct term, if it’s what I think it is, is SUSE, not SUSI. SUSE is Novell’s version of Linux, and SUSI is an acronym for Safer Use of Services on the Internet.

I can find no mention of this on the Lenz Agency of North America web site.

No, it’s SUSI. It will probably only work with decoders that have the SUSI interface - the Gold series for one. I don’t know if Lenz developed it or it was a group of European decoder manufacturers, but it’s a standard for proiding the interconnecitons necessary to add a sound module to a motor drive decoder. If you look at the Gold Series decoder manual you can see where the connections are.

So it’s going to be an add-on sound module to connect to a Lenz Gold Series decoder – sorry for my mistaken thought on what they were talking about.

This sounds like the MICRO-XS available in Europe. Sorry for the pun.
