Here’s the new ARR scheme. Inspired by gG, colors by the Boston & Maine, drawing by Stan Lytle, color work by me.

The locos on the fictional Seneca Lake, Ontario, & Western RR (SLOW) look like this:
Nothin’ fancy, just workhorses doing their jobs in 1925.
Classy job Bob!

That looks like some nice modeling there Roger!

Nice job there Wayne. Where’d you come up with the ideas for these paint schemes?

Thanks, Charlie, for the kind words. [:)]
The EG&E double grey and green was my first free-lanced paint scheme, and came about partially when Floquil first released the Polly S (not PollyScale) line of paints. At that time, the colours available were all military colours, but I thought that some looked suitably “railroady”, so I decided to try them out. This was before I owned an airbrush, so all of my locos were brush painted, like those FA/FBs in the photo. The lettering is from Champ alphabet sets (I used the same font, but different sizes for various locos) and striping is also from Champ. I did over 30 locos this way, which took a lot of alphabet sets - there are only so many "G"s and ampersands on a sheet. [swg]
All of the other schemes were airbrushed with either Floquil or SMP Accupaint, and the lettering and striping were done using dry transfers as masks over the lettering colour. After the main colours were applied, the dry transfers were removed using bits of masking tape, revealing the properly coloured lettering. I first used this technique when painting these TH&B locos, which appeared in MR’s Paintshop many years ago. The unique colours of the prototype made it difficult to get properly coloured commercial lettering.
As I mentioned in my original post, the inspiration for most came from various prototype roads, although I’ve been told that I have I have a pretty good “eye” for what looks right.
While most of my passenger equipment is painted following the CNR’s practices…

Here is the Regional I came up with. Some Day I might have some of these made. The paint Scheme has evolved a lot. this is one of the old versions. Later I’ll see if I can find a new one
I could see this coming. Heres mine since my post had my basic frieght, ill show the F40-PH I have been working on ( I am planning on changing it…)
Enjoy
You know, just to run things over into two threads, the blue could be used to tie in Passenger cars. Add a blue stripe on the black cars
Some really great paint schemes. I still don’t know how to post pictures, mine are in the photo album on the signature.
I really like the RS1 Charlie, good choice.
I was planning on doing that but since I changed the frieght sceme, I wanted to keep them all very similar…but I do like them both so I might use both…not sure yet.

This is the early (H1) Golden State Railroad paint scheme.
The Cedar Branch & Western’s paint scheme as shown on its different engines:
Here are two of my schemes for the Detroit Connecting. I still need to add a white sill stripe and weathering on the H16-44. All of the lettering is single letter decals – I need to invest in some custom decals…

I posted my pics on snapfish – I just viewed the pics, right click, copy. Open a reply box in the forum and paste the pic into the reply box. Works great!
Give it a shot!

Nope. cause allw e get ore red boxes. Your computer knows where it copied from, but ours don’t. It;s so much easierr to go through a picture hosting site.
Whoops! Don’t I feel like an idiot. Back to the drawing board. I tried using the insert image button and copying the url for the photos from snapfish, but it looks like they are still not showing up. One day I’ll figure it out and post my pics…
