I have noticed an absence of our friend C&O Fan lately here on the Forum, but didn’t think much of it until today.

I received the following email this morning:

“Hello everyone. I am Terry’s daughter-in-law, Carol. As some of you may already know my father-in-law has what appears to be Cancer of the Throat (Pharyngeal). They can’t confirm this until they perform a biopsy . . . BUT with his smoking history and with the tests they performed in the ofiice they can almost guarantee it. Terry is extremely upset, scared, depressed and worried all in one. I think his biggest fear is of being alone. As you know Terry lives alone in Spring Branch. Anyway, please keep us all in your prayers. At this point all we can do is pray and have God lead us in the direction He wants us to go. Another thing, Terry is no longer answering his home or cell phone. He says that it’s draining and it makes his throat hurt. All of his communication is via e-mail at TerryinTexas********.”

Please keep C&O Fan in your thoughts and if you can, drop an encouraging email his way …he does not know I’m posting this, so I’m hoping his spirits will be lifted by hearing from his fellow forum members in his time of need.

E-mail away, Sir!

My own father had throat cancer. When he died, thirty-nine years after the original diagnosis, cancer was not listed as a cause. At age 94, he just wore out.

I will pray that Terry will outlast him.

I speak to Terry almost every day and he’s a great source of encouragement, both in Model Railroading, and in life. He’s a great guy, but, as you say, he’s a little intimidated by this. His throat biopsy surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. Thats got him concerned. He’s a fine Christian man though, so he’s placing his care in his God. Please pray for him diligently.

Sorry if I got too “religious” for the forum, but this is something that falls in that area for him.
