Other than SPs cab forwards and War Babies and Santa Fe’s 3000 they didn’t have a lot of super unique outstanding equipment.
Who wouldn’t like to have a Big Boy or Allegeny in their collection? I would!
The manufacturers can make a Big Boy which is unique to the Union Pacific and sell it to a lot of people. How many non-Santa Fe people would buy a Santa Fe 3400 class just by seeing it sitting on the self? I guess not many. Big Boys, NW Yb6s, and Js are impressive. Look at how many NYC & Penn. unique steamers they have produced that aren’t selling nearly as well as the Challengers and Big Boys. I saw one of the NYCs on clearance for $144. Neither can they raise the price to produce more road specific, low volume, models because then they would be competing with brass.
Unfortunately they are doing the same thing with these as they did with the Northerns. Producing the small 3800 class, rather than the big brute 5000 class.
How about Broadway Limited doing a C.P. H1b Hudson after all there is one preserved and they could get their boffins to go and actually measure it to get it right rather than having to rely on drawings . I think it would be a seller, its been into the U.S. as well as a high proportion of Canada. PLS.
you just have to wonder, why hasn’t any producer (save the much maligned Rivavrossi) taken on the Hiawatha? If a reasonably priced, well detailed version came out, say, with a DCC plug, (hint, proto heritage series) I think people would buy it, not just Milwaukee fans but of great streamlining!
I want one of everything from every railroad, reasonablly priced with dcc and sound. But right now I would be happy with some Western Maryland Steam.I don’t care what class or version, and I want the manf.to stick to the production schelude no push back after initial announcement.
All in HO…
I would like to see more D&RGW specific STEAM locos built, 4-8-2s, 2-8-0s, 4-8-4s (both the 1700s and the 1800s), and even some of the Grande monsters 2-8-8-2s and finally a Grande 4-6-6-4, not the UP nock off.
I could use more D&RGW SD40T-2s as well.
In the non loco department…some 01400 series D&RGW cabooses would be nice.
I voted for more cn/cp where’s our BLI steamers the cn hudson was nice but it’s price was prohibitive [xx(] it was $1000 cdn and mostly brass why did we get stiffed? some nice sound equiped 4-8-4’s 4-6-4’s and 2-8-0’s in proper cdn attire and detail would be most welcome please BLI we don’t need MTH making them or even though I want them they will stay on the shelf. cheers Rob
I am curious as to why SP and ATSF were grouped together. I don’t know if this is logical for steam locomotives, however the headlights SP had for much of its diesel years would preclude this for most diesels.
I voted for New York Central because I want to see P&LE steam in N. There are certain crimes that I might consider committing for a good running K-6 in N scale as well as an H-10 (do I dare dream about a vestibule cab H-10?) and an A-2a.
One ‘generic’ road locomotive that has been overlooked in N is a USRA heavy pacific with a larger tender. Many roads had copies of this (only the Erie had originals, they even had a class of copies as well), but with larger tenders.
N scale also needs a decent running and pulling steam switcher.
Liddiard–you have just recieved my nomination for election as some sort of Roman Deity!!! Yes, I would like to see some Rio Grande steam that 1: isn’t expensive brass and 2: narrow-gauge teapots. Oh, my, would I like to see Proto or BLI come out with one of those big F-81 2-10-2’s, or better yet, a 1500 series 4-8-2 that–unlike the Custom Brass model that used to be available–could pull something more than just it’s tender! Or maybe Spectrum could grace us with one of those beguiling, chunky little 1100 series 2-8-0’s. I’ve got a lot of Rio Grande brass steam, and I love 'em all, but my, it would be nice to see BLI or Proto or someone come out with something nice and NOISY!

Anything Boston & Maine , part particularly a BLI QSI equiped 4-8-2 R1-d Mountain with centipede tender with red stripes and nice red and silver “Boston & Maine” speed lettering on the side.
