LGB 125th Anniversary Festival

Well the party’s over and what a party it was! Here is the official press release about the LGB 125th anniversary festival:

LGB Festival Draws Record Crowd

A preliminary tally shows that an estimated 30,000 LGB fans attended the LGB Festival, making it the largest paid-attendance event in the history of large-scale model railroading and possibly in the history of all model railroading.

The Festival, held July 14-16 at five different venues in the Nürnberg area, featured everything from steam train excursions, streetcar tours and real locomotive displays to fantastic LGB layouts, auctions of LGB collectibles and fun activities for kids. “The big, happy crowd – filled with people of all ages from all lands – demonstrates the vitality of the LGB idea and points to the future of model railroading,” said Rolf Richter, Managing General Partner of Ernst Paul Lehmann Patentwerk, maker of LGB trains.

In addition to the record attendance, the LGB Festival also generated other impressive numbers:

· about 57.000 l iters of beverages have been consumed
· about 23.000 “Nürnberger Bratwürste” and 6 oxes have been served
· the shuttle busses travelled about 4.800 kilometers
· more than 10.000€ were raised for charity

And the LGB fans were impressed also:

  • “You have made it a great event and a big success! Only LGB knows how to handle such a beautiful train modelists’ event, and we were very proud to belong to the LGB family.” - Martine Lanter of France.
  • “Your celebration was really super!!! We only saw joyful faces. The bus tours were sensational, and I hope there will be more celebrations!” - Peter Friedl, Germany
  • “Sorry to all that missed it—Try to make it at their next festival!!” - Dave Yunt, United States.

“We want to thank everyone who made the Festival such a success – our co-workers, Clubs and our partners at VEDES, AFAG, the City of Nürnberg, VAG Nürnberg, the Nürnberg Toy Museum and

More to follow…

Hi Jack,

Yep, it was a great Festival - but finding you was difficult!! - seems that when you were down at the International Representatives Area I was up at the LGB Club end…and vice versa!!

Also understand that we missed each other at Vedes early on Saturday morning as was told that you were accompanying Wolfgang Richter when he was taking pictures of the Bonsai Garden Railway - I got a great picture of Mr. Richter taking his pictures!!

Thought that the RhB layout on the top floor of Vedes was the most fantastic I’ve yet seen closely followed by the logging layout on the ground floor.

Keith

Sorry to have missed you Keith! Our U.K. rep told me that you stopped by but I guess I was too late!

I hope you had as much fun at the festival as I did. It really was a wonderful gathering of LGB enthusiasts from around the globe. Working at the international booth really confirmed this!

It really is great to go anywhere with Wolfgang- people really have a sincere afffection for him. Perhaps we’ll see each other at the 150th, eh?

Jack you brought out a good point.
“Wolfgang-people really have a sincere affection for him”

When I was in Denver last year, was the ONLY time I ever got to meet him, and I felt that also. Kind of a great respect for what he started. I may not buy to many of the products but I very much RESPECT the man and the company.
I hope hes doing fine, I know hes getting up there in years.

Nice pics!
