Heard a rumor at one train shop that Marklin (I think thats how it’s spelled) Bought them. That was awhile ago , around last Christmas I heard that.

[#oops]

Just read the interview. Like I said it was a rumor.

The big question now is what will be the relatioship between LGB/Marklin and LGBofA, good/bad/terrible/lawsuit ?

Personally I hope it is good, I need some parts that are in very short supply.

Since LGB of A is only about 15 miles from my house, I’m going to set up an appointment to visit their showroom (I’ve done it 3 times before) within the next 3 weeks and while there I’ll try to get some inside information and let everyone know. I also need some parts and I’m looking for a particular engine at the moment. Get the production line going again!

(Joseph, in modern German it’s “Märklin”. The dots over the “a” are shorthand for the “e” that follows it in the older spelling of “Maerklin”, which is perfectly correct and a reasonable alternative if you don’t have an “ä” on hand. It is often mispronounced “mark-lin”; but, however it is spelled, it should be pronounced “merk-lin”.)

Geez, I’m in Escondido and touring their facility never occured to me. [D)][%-)]

I haven’t been in several years, but for a train lover it’s like being a 7 year old at DisneyLand. You do have to call to make reservations and they only let a limited number of people in to see their working and static displays, and that’s only once a week during a one hour block (things may have changed though). You’ll think you died and went to LGB heaven.

Here’s a link to a thread in the GR forum with a translated interview with the head of Marklin, the new LGB owner:
