I have an LGB F7 that has some stripped gears and a dead motor. Has anyone used an Aristo-Craft or USA F3 motor block as a replacement, or know where to get replacement gears and motors for less than $50? I have already looked at Train-Li, but they are too expensive. For that much money, I could just buy a new locomotive that has plenty of parts available.
Motor and gears for under $50 - very unlikely. I am searching for a motor for a Forney with no success. [:(] It might be difficult to make the Aristo/USA motors work. I know that Aristo uses a circuit board to connect the motor to the frame and the USA might be too small. Thier F7 is much closer to the groung that LGB’s. If only one of the two motors is dead, you could just make that truck a dummy like the F7 B units. Good luck to you. If you ever find a source for motors, let me know. Michael
That’s only kind of true about Aristo two axle diesel trucks. The trucks have two set of leads coming from them. One is the power leads from the wheels the other is the power to the motor. If you wire up the two together the truck will run on its own on track power. The replacement trucks come with sideframes (ALCO style) and a mounting yoke.

I suppose I spoke too soon. I was referring to three axle blocks and just assumed they were the same. Sorry about that, Michael
Give me a call.
I have two completes.
