Hello, I just purcased an LGB F7B, and was wondering if anyone has installed two power trucks, and if so, could you please help me with any information on this subject. Thank you, Gerry. [:)]
I just did this modification 2 days ago. You need to make sure that you take the magnet speed reader for the sound and move it from the dummy truck into the power truck. You will have to mount it on the opposite side of where it was located before. You will have to do a bit of cutting on the top of the gearbox cover so the mognet stuff will fit. Give me a few days and your email and I will send you a picture of my modifications.
Hope this helps,
David
I replaced the single dummy truck with one from the pair of F7 motor blocks being sold.
My AB units were non-mts and I found the B unit to run too fast, so I slowed it down by using diodes until I got a matching speed with the A unit. I added a set of 3 diodes with another 3 in the opposite direction to one side of the motor. Speed matches now and I added weight as well as tied the track power from the wheels to the 2 wire connector inside the B unit. My B will run by itself.
Then I added weight for traction as this is no longer a dummy engine.
This worked so well that I was able to use the other motor block in a friends AB New Haven unit.
I left the block with the reed switches alone as having just 1 motor added to the dummy B addressed all the pulling power I needed.
