LGB on Good Morning America

Here we go again!
LGB of America has supplied ABC with trains for a spot on Good morning America and a segment called “In the mix” on thier internet news service.
I believe they will air the internet segment on Monday at 7:40 pm (and various other times during the week) and the Good Morining America segment at 8:30 am Tuesday. These spots are specifically about toys so I’ve got my fingers crossed!

Hi there,

I added a bit of emphasis to your post (Bold and Italics)[;)][}:)], but you’re right, perfect spot for LGB - toys. They also need the exposure.[:)][:)]

Exposure!

HJ,
If I read between the lines correctly your point is that LGB trains are basically toys?
Correct me if I’m wronge but aren’t all of the trains we “play” with toys? I understand that many model railroaders strive for scale accuracy but when you bring it all down to the bottom line even a totally accurate scale miniature is basically a diversion from reality, in other words a grown up “toy”

Amen!

No they are not toys and we do not play with them. they are proper technical devices which we operate.

However having said that when I used to be a yactie, I came across a cruiser valued at about a million dolllars and it had a little nameplate on it superstructure.

“The only difference between men and boys are the price and size of their toys”

As I was in a 10 metre yacht with international or at least off shore capabilities I guess i was in the same boat. so as to speak.

Welllllllllllllllllllll,

Not everyone “plays” with their “toys” and any of the modelbuilders I know (not necessarily all railway modelbuilders, either!) , along with myself, don’t see scale models as toys.

If you’d like to run the “playing with toy trains” by Mr. Goodson aka TOC, I’m sure he’d fully agree. [}:)][;)][:)][:D][}:)][:p][:-^] Might spring for a special cigar!

Classifying most of LGB’s line as toys OTOH is OK, EPL prides themselves on being “toy manufacturers”, so they found the perfect window for exposure.

They’re problem lies more in the direction of convincing people that they produce model railway items. And in consequence getting a large enough percentage of the boomers migrating from the smaller scales to Large Scale, to stem the relative shrinkage in their sales.

BTW the analogy could be this: At a fine French Restaurant they serve food and so they do at McDonald’s, it therefore follows that the hamburger flipper and french fries immerser at McDonald’s is also a “chef”. [;)][}:)][:D][:D]

I play with my toys, and I’m proud of it.[:-,]

There is no need to be insulting.

For me anything I enjoy doing I call play and for the price I pay for the “trains” I do not consider them toys. I looked in the dictionary and found this definition for toy (as well as others): #8220;something diminutive; especially : a diminutive animal (as of a small breed or variety)#8221; So I guess Toy train could be correct. :+)
