Due to the death of a family member, I recently acquired a large number of G gauge trains - mostly LGB. I have no idea what these are worth. Most of these are new and still in the original box. Is there a web site that will help me determine the value of these trains? I’ve noticed that some have 4 digit numbers and some have 5 digits. eBay has been helpful but I’m sure there is a better database. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
You find a place to get rid of that stuff easily, post it here.
I too have piles of it, 4 and 5 digit, can’t even get what it cost new 20 years ago.
Hi there,
To get an approximate value you could check the collectors’ listings at Watt’s
http://wattstrainshop.com/collectors.shtml
Hope that helps

My old Grammy would say it’s worth EXACTLY whatever 2 idiots (buyer and seller) can agree upon. I’ve noticed some sellers have an EXAGGERATED belief in the value of their items. I’ve also noticed that some buyers are EXTREMELY cheap. (but rarely the other way around)
Check the item #'s against same items being sold on Ebay, the selling prices will give you a good valuation of the items, since you didnt buy them in the first place you’ll be less likely to insist on X dollars or nothing like some zealous sellers can insist on.
Let the market determine your final selling price if you wish to sell them off fast. Good luck
Vic is right on. This is what I usually tell customers who call asking the same question. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other resources available for pricing.
Would you kindly send me a list of what you have and i might be able to make you an offer that you can’t refuse.
