LHS in the Norfolk, Virginia, Area?

Our family will be in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area on vacation in the next few weeks. Can anyone suggest/recommend a good LHS in that area?

Thanks!

I am familiar with and would recommend Dales in Norfolk on Poplar Hall Drive and Davis Hobby Shop in Portsmouth (I can drive there but darned if I know the address…profuse apolgies). Also there is another one in Norfolk which I believe is called Toycraft but I haven’t been there in years.

Dale’s is pretty good. Go up Military Hwy, past the Janaf strip mall, in that same block where the double-tree hotel is. Poplar Hall drive is the same side road that the DMV is on-- it’s almost directly opposite the DMV in fact.

There’s also another one on Chesapeake on the other side of Little Creek Blvd, next to the 7/11. Around about Chesapeake and E Bay Street… I think about a block before it-- can’t recall the name of the cross street, but across from the little Supermarket and right beside the 7/11. Look for the big RR Crossbucks out front.

There is (or was) another one in Greenbrier Mall, but I haven’t been to that one in ages. They sold a lot of G-scale stuff along with HO and O.

There was a Hungate’s in Greenbrier Mall but it closed shortly after Christmas, I don’t recall any other hobby shop in the Mall. The shop you are referring to in your second paragraph is Toycraft.

Call before you make the trip. Dales is open Wednesday - Saturday from 10 to 5.

Davis hours are Tue, Thur, Fri and Sat. I think if you call their hours will be on the recording.

You’d never know I lived a block-and-a-half away from it for six years

The Engine House in Virginia Beach on Bonney Road has lots of Lionel; not much HO or N, but his prices are usually fairly low since his stock is usually a bit older in those scales.
