I don’t know how far you’re coming, nor how far you’re willing to go to. But, a few hours away in Spencer,NC is the following shop. I think this is probably a top 10 shop in the US(I may get some argument of course), in some ways because of what’s across the street. They will let you try out the locos before you buy them!!

The NC transportation museum is across the street with a working roundhouse!

Yes they will, that is where i get mine.
Spencer is a bit far because I’m only going to be in Raleigh-Durham for 2 days to see my mom. I do want to go see the NC Transportation museum sometime. They have the Graham Co. 3-truck shay, which I rode back in '73 when it was run on the Bear Creek Scenic RR, just outside Robbinsville, NC.
The last that I heard Shay #1926 was in the roundhouse needing boiler repairs/replacement.

Quite a distance from Raleigh to Spencer, so the closer option is
Tom’s Train Station, 1239 Buck Jones Road 919.388.7246
This fellow is also known to buy entire model rr collections from estates, so there is the possibility of finding some nice oldies or oddities.
