A FB correspondent has for several years posted an incident he was involved in on its’ October anniversary of a few years[1989] ago.
It is a current topic with a couple of other Threads running here at this time, and while it is his story, he has asked that his ‘friends’ share it, so its lesson is not lost. Those Threads have gone through several incidents and minutely examined them, looking at them as ‘outsiders’. The following is a first person account of a real highway/grade crossing accident that took the lives of three teenaged girls.
"…Well its that time of the year again, October 18th, the anniversary of the night my life changed forever. And the night the lives of the families of three teenage girls were also changed forever. With the intent of using the scared straight philosophy I present this very graphic reminder of the realities of risking your life and the lives of others when failing to heed the warning signals at railroad crossings. Posting this every year at this time I hope I am able to convey the message before somebody makes this mistake again. For years I posted this on several discussion lists as well as my Hot Times on the High Iron Facebook page. As what has now become a tradition begun in 2011, I also now post it on my regular Facebook page to share it with all of you in my effort to educate everybody about the dangers of railroad crossings and the importance of heeding the signals and warning signs at these crossings. Also it is my intention to remind you all that anytime can be train time. I encourage you all to share and forward this to all of your friends and family.
