Life-Like SW9/1200 motor

I have just dismantled an N-scale Life-Like SW9/1200 because of stalling and erratic power problems to the motor. First time doing it and there’s parts everywhere [:D]

I know it’s the motor because I had two tiny powered crocodile clips on the brush caps and depending on the angle I had the motor at it slowed, stopped or ran.

I pulled both the brush caps off the motor and see that the brushes are well worn down. The springs look ok so I am guessing that the worn brushes are causing the erratic behaviour (I reckon I am at the “if it’s not this, then maybe it’s that stage”).

Does anyone know if I can get new brushes for these little motors? And if so where could I get them.

If I can’t get new brushes would pulling on the springs gently to push out the remaining brushes work? (I don’t want to mess with the springs unless it’s a last resort).

Thanks for any help.
