So, rereading the October 2013 issue of MR in the…reading room (ain’t using the smartphone in there), I was reading our good buddy Cody’s (Cody is everyone’s friend) article on coupler installation tips.
And so noted that he has switched from Polly-Scale (for obvious reasons) to LifeColor paints (I think that page links to the correct brand) to paint and weather the couplers.
LifeColor seems UKian (LifeColor hobby colours…[^o)] ) - so is this the painting wave of the future according to MR? And if so, who around here has used this on projects? (So far, my googling has returned links to many stores hawking LifeColor, but not the manfacturer’s site itsefl)
I find it hard to believe that any paint,is the wave of the future,I would however, say that there are a lot of manufacturing Hobby suppliers, out there, that are producing, new Acrylic paints, now, that don’t have many review’s yet…MicroLux,is one of them…
Also, any Manufacturer of any product, would be cutting their own throats, If they were to put down their own products…Just A Thought…![:)]
Cheers,
Frank
Well, the Streamlined Steam Loco and the Parrot*, along with Paint-Brush head, ruled the past few decades of Model Railroading paint pretty well, so we need something for the future - 3D flocking is not gonna cut it…
Great, MR, RMC, MRH, come on guys, get a comparison chart together, lets pick a new standard (when you look at older modeling articles PollyScale and Floquil along with Scalecoat were definitely it).
I don’t quite get the relevance of this thought - the article by Cody mentioned Lifecolor paint. Sometimes the MR articles are a bit “over-enthusiastic” concerning new products - I’d like to know if this is a great, good, fair, so-so, or meh product for those using it in the field.
*Looking at a relavatively new bottle of Polly Scale, the logo now looks like an Eagle ready to pounce - what’s that got to do with parrots?
Too many variables, for me to go any further on the paint subject, but I will say the bottle of Polly Scale,CSX, Tan,that I bought in 2003, has an Eagle on the label also…
Cheers,
Frank
apologies to the O.P. about being off-topic to the thread, but I remember the old Polly S trademark, long before RPM Co. killed the parrot.

Most magazine “reviewers” use products that have been donated to them for the free publicity. Just because they recommend it doesn’t necessarily mean it is the best or only one available.
