lift bridge plans

I am modelling in Nscale and would like to know if anyone has a ’ thread’ for constructing a ’ lift bridge’. there are several posts on the web but they tend to get technical with magnets etc. I prefer to use a door hinge or cabinet hinge for the project. thanks, phil in socal

There are a lot of posts on the subject in various threads in the forum, so do a search on the community section of the MRR website. There are also a couple of good videos on YouTube you should check out. I’m no carpenter, but I built a lift bridge easily. The key element is to make sure that the hinges are above on the top of the bridge. This raises the pivot point and allows the bridge to essentially lift up and out so it clears the adjoining layout edge. To ensure that the lift bridge stays in line, I mounted three tee nuts on the landing board and three matching machine screws on the end of the bridge. This assures that the bridge stays properly aligned every time it closes. Once this is done, lay the track across the bridge and secure it so it’s solid. Then cut the track where it crosses the gaps in the bridge.

Good luck.

Gidday Phil, here’s some links to a couple of "recent"threads.
