Lift bridge would be nice????

Hello all,

I’ve long been a fan of massive bridges , a lift bridge would be my favorite.A close second is a bascule bridge, darn walthers had to retirer their HO model of one.

Some company has got to come out with one. Then again supply and demand…still would be a show stopper. I thought about scratch building one,but I searched the web and came out empty handed for plans. I did find the library of congess web-site.

In the library of congress web-site is something called HABS/HAER,a records of sorts. If you type in what your searching for engineering wise, nine times out of ten you’ll find schematics of it. I found schemactics of a lift bridge, very poor drawings and I couldn’t resize them for copying.

A bascule bridge on good ole e-bay ,will cost you an arm ,leg and one eye ball, not me.

Does anyone have info or know about drawings for a lift type bridge ??? The heck with a bascule bridge,I’d like to get my mits on a lift bridge.

Thanks for any help on this matter.

Corpus Christi, Texas has a vertical lift bridge over its ship channel. I shot a bunch of b&w photos from several angles in 1970 and made measurements for rough plans, but never drew real scale drawings. I could hunt those up…

As I recall, the railroad bridge next to the Benicia highway bridge across the Sacramento river is a lift bridge also.

You read my mind, I would love to add one to both my HO and N layouts

Leighant,

Thank you for the lead!!! Now I have something to go on.
