Lift-out with Kato Unitrack

Is it possible to have a lift-out section when using Kato Unitrack? How would you unlock the sections?

You will have to do a little modifying to make it work. I think the simplest thing to do would be to cut the tab off the peice each side of the lift out, so that you have a smooth end right at the seams. On the lift out use flex track and cork or other roadbed that matches the height of the Unitrack. It would be difficult to get your liftout exactly the length of several pieces of your track, could be done, but I think the flex & roadbed would be easier. Of course your track may not come exactly to the seam from the rest of your layout. In that case, use a little flex track.each side of the seam and butt it up to a trimmed piece of Unitrack at whatever distance is necessary from the seam.

Good luck,

Richard

Eh… IGNORE the tabs.

The joint goes in the MIDDLE of a section of Unitrack, where you can then cut through it with a motor tool or fine saw. Then you may proceed as if it were any other kind of track. You can also make your cut at an angle if your layout requires that or if you want to make a swing out section.
