LIFTUPS!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i have to have a lift up on my layout and i was wonderin how u got a good conection between ea section?

can anyone sort this out for me?

THANKS

Haven’t built mine yet (have to build the benchwork up to it, both sides, first) but I intend to use heavy plugs (110VAC type) on the bridge mating with appropriate sockets on the abutment. Three wires will power the tracks (DC common rail.) The other will kill power to the common rail of the approach blocks by opening normally-closed relays.

One consideration with a lift-up is the possible conflict with items above track level on both sides of the hinge line. I plan to beat that one by making my bridge a bascule, so the long (24") end will lift up and the short (8",±) end will drop below the fixed roadbed.
That should protect the (purely cosmetic) catenary that has to cross the bridge.

Here is a site I found [after a Google search] with instructions and detail photos of a liftup bridge. Top row, center album.
