Light leaking from my Atlas N Classic GP35's cab, what's a good way to fix it?

Howdy folks! As the title of the thread says, I’m having trouble with my Atlas Classic n scale GP35. I was running it last night and noticed that there was light leaking from one corner of the cab (the corner circled in white):

I really love this model. Does anyone here have a good solution? The place it leaks from is where the cab part meets the body at the top of the cab. Thank you to anyone who posts a reply!

This reminds me of the patient who raised his arm above his head and said to the doctor, “Doc, whenever I do this my shoulder aches! What should I do?”

“Simple,” says the doctor, “stop doing it! Pay the nurse on the way out.!”

“Simple,” says R. T. POTEET, “stop running your trains at night and your problem will go away!”

You have a seam which seems to not be seaming properly. Check to make sure that your cab is seating properly. You might even try some very finite sanding along the seam where the high hood meets the cab. If that doesn’t work you might locate some ultrathin black tape, install a sliver of this tape to the inside of the long hood where it appears this leakage is occuring and see if that doesn’t solve your problem.

Try applying some of this Liquid Electrical Tape (actually a vinyl paste) over the seam inside the shell where the light leaks out:

Thank you both! I’m going to try R. T. Poteet’s method first, because I have the materials to do it. CSX_road_slug, i’ll try your solution if R. T. Poteet’s method doesn’t solve my problem. once again, thank you both!

Well, for one, if you ran the engine long hood forward, like the N&W did, you wouldn’t have a problem…

He might and then again he might not!

Atlas equips the GP35 with directional lighting… He’d only get the light leak when he goes backward… But the tape trick is a simple fix.

I had a similar problem with some of my engines after I installed LEDs. I put electrical tape around the LED, but not covering the front, works just fine.

If I have to do the same thing again, I’ll use heat shrink tubing, the tape gets bulky after a little.

I put a decoder in a H15/16-44 and couldn’t use the light shields. I put a couple of coats of black fingernail polish inside the shell and put some heat shrink tubing around the LEDs. Works good and it actually lights up the track on the long hood end. Kinda cool in the dark.
