If there was any city that should have surface rail in addition to its underground it should be Montreal. I have no idea because I dont speak french if they have plans or not. I know they have expanded its commuter trains but I see no plans for light rail
Why would you not contact Montreal Information because you don’t speak French?? there really are some English speaking people in Montreal. the reason they dont have LRT is they seem to have a great system of conventional rail service now, I rode it from West island to downtown and it’s a great system. Why spend 700 trillion dollars to put in a very, very , very expensive system when you can expand an existing train service???
Talked to two Quebecors Yesterady…They said that,
1.Light Rail is in the planning stages and they dont think its goind to happen because,
A-Montreal already has a excellent and comprehensive underground rail system
B-The disruption to traffic during construction would be too much
C-The overhead wires would be ugly and the neighbors would not put up with this
Now as far as this overhead wire thing I beleive that with Victorian Style poles that the effects of the wire would be mitigated.
