Lighted magnifying visor

Lighted magnifying visor…do you or have you used one…do they work / fit well with glasses…do you recommend them…any certain type or brand? Any help appreciated.

Wouldn’t do without mine, a circular fluorescent bulb around the magnifying lens. I also use it to light up my models for photos, the light is well balanced with my digital cameras. I’d like to have an expensive Luxo model, but a generic one will do for me.

I previously used a lamp with an incandescent bulb, but like the flouorescent one much better - its cooler, and the round lamp circles the subject without shadows. I also use reading glasses when using the lamp.

[#ditto] and use it not only to magnify but a good work light as well. Does give off heat and can adjust where I want it. Bought mine a Staples office supplies.

I think Bob and Bob above are talking about the magnifier mounted to the work bench.I have the visor. I wear glasses and it fits just fine over the glasses… Wouldn’t do without it. I never have used the lights because my work area is adequately lit.

If I understand your question, I think you are talking about the type you wear on your head. If you are, I bought one and didn’t like it at all. I then got the type I believe FundyNorthern & Nospaceorcashrr are talking about. These clamp onto a desk or work bench and have articulated arms. They are just great and I would also highly recommend this type.

I’m talking about the kind you wear on your head…like optivisor.

I have both types of magnifiers discussed above. I use them equally as much…the wearable kind are handy especially for under bench work. I also use inexpensive reading glasses. God i hate getting old[sigh]

I also have a Optivisor clone, no lights though. I imagine one with lights would be heavier and the batteries would require replacing.

I only use it for extreme close up work, and not very often. I find it too confining, and the band interferes with my peripheral vision - I cannot see to the side. It’s way too limiting for me, the lamp with the lens is in use all the time, mostly for lighting, but I just swing it closer to get in real close.
