I have an LCE and Amtrack articulated train from LGB and a Dash-9 and I would love to have altermating or flashing lights in all 3 trains. Does anybody know where I can get electrical components to do this?
Thanks[bow]

Hi Duke, Try any good electrical shop IE Radio Shack or a model shop that does models that are power controlled[:D]
Just exactly what are you trying to do?
It sounds like he is trying to equip the locomotives with “ditch lights.”
David
If you are going with digital there are usually lighting functions on the decoder that allow it. The Zimo decoder I told you about before has this option and I will eventually take the dash-9 apart and wire it up.
On analog you’ll have to find a separate flasher circuit, like radio shack, that works off batteries or variable track voltage.
If I get round to doing ditch lights I’ll let you know.

Hi, David - If Ditch Lights are what you are looking for you might be interested in a circuit I put together a few months ago. It was described in great detail in an article I wrote for Large Scale Online - if you have access to that site have a look
Otherwise there is information on it on my web page at:
http://www.trainelectronics.com/
Here is a description from the web page
“This circuit utilizes a microprocessor to simulate the
unusual behavior of ditch lights that are installed on some
railroads’ engines. To make engines more visible than they
would be with ditch lights that stay on steadily, one light
brightens as the other dims. This is not the instantaneous change
that would be created if one bulb was turned on as the other was
turned off but a gradual dimming /
brightening that can be adjusted by a potentiometer on the board.”
I also have a number of other interesting circuits including a new Mars light.
Enjoy!
