Lights with DCC

i have a DCS-50. How can I add wires for lights to the DCS-50?

Use a seperate power source for the lighting for your buildings…

OR…

use a function only decoder to run some lights.

I prefer the former.

P.S. I really wish you could be clearer in your posts, I could have interpreted your post in a few different ways.

Luke,

Your Zephyr has a 2.5 amp capacity. I would not ‘waste’ that power on ‘non train’ stuff. Use an old power pack or get a 12VDC ‘Wall Wart’ power supply to light the structures on your layout. The DCC signal is about 14-15 volts and the lamp life of many of the available signals/lights is only 12 volts.

Get an old AT type computer power supply to power your structure lights. I’m using one to power about 50 light bulbs right now and it’s not even starting to strain.
