Lima's finest

THE Allegheny was the ultimate superpower locomotive and after 20+ years I was finally able to ad one to my roster.

At a reasonable cost too.nope not a rivarossi but a Key model, erected by Samhongsa in 1986…

And she runs like a fine swiss watch.

Sweet!

Runs “like a fine Swiss watch”?? Doesn’t that ticking noise bother you? [swg]

“Lima’s finest”

I thought it was going to be a Shay!

Anyway, congrats. The Allegheny is on my yet to be completed list of top 10 brass-steam-locomotives-I’d-like-to-have-that-don’t-“fit”-on-my-railroad. So, a bit of envy, too. And not all would be modern steam. A really nice model of a Triplex comes to mind–all engines powered! And maybe a Santa Fe 4-4-6-2.

Ah, daydreaming!

There was a brass Akane 2-6-6-6 (later run) at my LHS several years ago that was so incredibly detailed that it made my jaw drop. The owner test-ran it for some of us, and it was another Swiss Watch (no ticking, LOL). The owner wanted $1100 for it. I almost bit, the loco was such a beauty. I came back the next week and it was gone.

I’m sure that your Key is a beauty–I have several Key locos on my own MR and they run sweet and smooth. And the detail is drool-making, LOL!

Congratulations–that’s one HUNK of locomotive. Out here in the west, some of us refer to the Allegheny as the “Beast From The East”. And that’s NOT a ‘put-down’ by any stretch of the imagination.

Congratulations![bow]

They laid the ground work with the shay [swg]

To the OP, the Dodge Charger looks a little out o place, perhaps a “Back to Future” remake? [swg]

Sweet loco, it looks awesome [tup]

Duh, it’s steam nostalgia days on the ole pike! [swg]

To be honest never noticed the squad car hidden there til i took this picture lol and though the layout supposed to be set in the transition era our members run everything from 4-6-0s to todays modern deesels.

TWhite as ol’ Walter Brennan used to say ’ no brag just fact’ I almost feel like i stole this engine even with the incorrect paint and lettering for $695 +shipping

I don’t know whether it was “Lima’s finest” or not but recent investigation of both the C&O and Lima records has revealed it as the worlds largest steam locomotive; my N-Scale Seaboard and Western Virginia Railway needs about half a dozen of these monsters . . . . . . . . . . assuming, of course, that they come in at a reasonable price and run considerably better than Key’s offering of two decades past.
