Outfitting America’s Finest Homes?

I searched the site, nothing about trains anywhere…

I did a simple search on the front page for “train” and it comes up.

Hi Dave,

Need a little help

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I did a search and found it.

It just isn’t listed where one would think.

Imagine.

Six hundred bucks, and look at the expander set for $165.

Also, good ASW programs will dump the window if you try to open just the picture:

HOLY BUFFALO BISQUITS!!!

$600 ?

Dam those are expensive Christsmas trees in the starter sets gondola!!!

Lets see, thats a $300 dollar starter set with about $20 worth of new decals, that just leaves those trees in the gon…Hmmm…thats 10 trees divided by $280 bucks…Dam…thats $28 bucks a tree!!!

I think I’ll just go to Micheal’s, and buy them at 10 for a $1 and use some of my Marshalls Blow-out cars…Oh wait a minute…I did that three years ago!

OK I’m being sarcastic, but at an asking price of double a starter set for only a custom paintjob and some POS Made in China trees…I mean…Fer Pete’s Sake…do I have to spell out how much this illustrates a recent issue we’ve been discussing???

Oh well, what PT Barnum say about one being born every minute?

Vic;

Its not like you to be uncharitable? I thought it all sounded pretty good particularly if you can get one thatin DCC controlled.

Rgds ian

Ian, theres nothing in the description that says anything about DDC. As I see it this is a simple DC set, like what I run, only at double the price for “collector” status seakers, maybe thats what rankles me about this set.

Have to agree it seems expensive especially compared with Aristocraft or Bachmann offerings - Ok so they are not LGB but its still not worth the extra - Personally i would rate my Aristo Rodgers against any LGB train of similar type on the basis of reliability, pulling power and quality.

Maybe, but the Rogers HAS to be the most visually challenged (read UGly) loco on the market! Maybe it was just the one I had but the quality on mine was nowhere NEAR LGB, or even the Lehmann Toytrain, as well. ALL the Aristos I’ve had were pretty good, but not outstanding

At least the Rogers is based on a REAL locomotive, however ugly, unlike the NKP (No-Known-Prototype) 2-4-0 from LGB, BTW adding a fuel bunker to the cab does wonders to the Rogers looks.

Agreed adding a bunker does - did that to mine tho i need to do some reworking . i still feel the original point made was that the set in question is not good value for what it comprises given it needs a repaint unless your name is S Claus
