Lindsay power trucks

For those of you who have had experience with these, are they very good? I’m thinking of repowering a Bachmann 4-wheel-drive F9 with one.

Lindsay power trucks. Never heard of them. I do have a Homade? frame for a Bachman F7/9 (whatever it is) Can motor it seems to run fine.

lindsey is good for the older crowd, but NWSL PDT is far better.

But like me I never like stuff laying about doing nuthin so install it in somethin and make it werk goot…

The NWSL PDT is probably very good, but I’m not about to spend $60-$80 on a truck for a Bachmann F9 when the entire train set it came in was $4 at a garage sale. That’s why I’d like to know about the Lindsays. I don’t really mind the older stuff, like AHM and older Mantuas. I’m watching an old police show called Dragnet on TV right now.[:D]

The Lindsay trucks were not bad but make sure you put weight over the truck. I had a yard engine powered by one it had a scratch built frame out of brass which gave it more weight You got the truc k go for it Cox 47

I don’t have the truck yet. I wanted to know if they were good before I try buying one.

Darth;
Since you, like me, apparently like some of the older stuff, stick an old mantua Funit power truck, the five pole motor, not the three pole POS, under it or find a used Athearn F-unit mechanism for it. Lindseys were good for their time but the chances of finding a Lindsey mechanism, that the bearings are not worn out in, or the brushes/communtator isn’t damaged, is very slim. I think they have been out of business since the 1960’s, at least that was the last time I saw a “new” diesel model with a Lindsey power truck.

If I can’t get a good lindsay truck then I’ll probably try a Hobbytown chassis kit. I like doing kits anyway.

Excellent choice! Although I prefer to model steam, out of the 6 diesels I do own, 3 are Hobbytown chassis, and they put my Atlas/Kato Rs-1, Stewart F-7, and P2K FA-2 to shame!
