One of the best things about the OWL Museum is that the photographs themselves appeal to more than just railroad buffs. They are works of art. So if you want to visit and somebody complains about not wanting to see a bunch of train photos…tell them that in many of the photos the trains are only a part, and sometimes even a small part, of the photos.
Don’t forget to make a donation to the “611” project. They need money to ensure they have an engine house. I’d send some, if they would get rid of the mournful whistles on their steamers!
If you’re anywhere near (say, within 5,000 miles) this museum, make the effort to visit it. It is an excellent museum with or without 1218 out front.
And by all means donate to 611. Best money you’ll ever spend.t
Greg;
That is an excellant suggestion. His photos were much more then trains. Definitely on an equal footing with Ansel Adams.
I visited the O. Winston Link museum several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you go there, be sure to take some time to try to absorb all the detail in the huge wall mural in the entrance hallway. It’s even been known to impress folks who aren’t train enthusiasts! I’m going to try to get back there for this event.
