Lionel 022 turnouts

I’m new here and am getting back into the hobby after a ten year hiatus. I’ve had a lot of distractions similar to another recent poster. My automotive vice is Datsun Z cars. I’m in the process of designing a layout and have not been able to find what the radius of the Lionel 022 turnouts is. In the past I used the 1122 turnouts and I thought I’d upgrade with the larger trains. Let me know the radius if you know. Thanks in Advance.

The radius, to the center rail, is 14.142 inches, compared to 12.5 inches for O27 track, which is what the 1122 is.

The nominal diameter is 31 inches, the same as O31 track. The actual diameter to the outside ends of the ties for O31 track is 30.534 inches (which is why it is sometimes called O30). O31 track is 1/4 inch higher than O27 track. The track pins are 7/64 inch in diameter, compared to 3/32 for O27.

If you’re looking for a larger radius, consider using Marx O34 curves, which have a radius of 15 3/4 inches, just a little more than O31, and which are completely compatible with O27 track.

In simple terms the diverging track of an O22 turnout is the same as a 45° curved section of “standard” O-31 track, the straight portion is equivalent to a 10" straight.
