I have a question that may be elementary but I am not very knowledgeable about trains. I have a lionel 1033 transformer. Do I need a special clip-on to hook it to the tracks because there are four wires coming from it ? Or do i need 2 clip ons with 2 wire inputs each ?? Thanks
You need one lockon to go to the track OR you could attach solderless lugs to your 2 wires and then connect them from underneath the midlle and the outer rails.
The 1033 is a great little transformer. Make sure that the cord is flexible with no cracks or breaks in the insulation before you use it!
The 1033 has four terminals: A, B, C, and U. Only two of these terminals would be connected to the track; the other two would be used for non-adjustable (“fixed”) power for switches or accessories.
For general use, connect terminal U to the #1 (Hot) terminal of the lock-on to provide the power to the center rail. Connect terminal A to the #2 (Common) terminal of the lock-on for the power to the outside rail. When connected in this manner, you will have 5-16 Volts of adjustable (“variable”) power to run your trains, 16 Volts of fixed power from terminals C and A to power switches or accessories, and 5 Volts of fixed power from terminals B and A to power lights (albeit dimly).
