I have my father’s 1666 loco and would like to put the rest of the set together. Any suggestions on where I can find the other cars??? Thanks
Best bet would be E bay. I just picked up some 1680 and 1681 prewar cars. Good luck in finding what you need.

According to Greenberg’s Pocket price guide you have a post war 027 engine ( # 1666), 1666E was the pre war engine. # 1666 was produced in 1946 and 1947 and according to Doyle’s guide book on post war the engine was included in both passenger (one set) and freight (four)sets, from what I can find.
The # 2440 passenger cars(two of them) and a # 2441 observation car are the correct numbers for the passenger set. The tender for the passenger set is # 2466W, stamped underneath on the tender. The transformer for the set was a Lionel # 1041, 60-watt. Set # 1402W.
The freight set had; 2466T tender, # 2452X gondola, # 2465 Sunoco double dome tank car, # 2472 non-illuminated red Pennsy caboose. The transformer for the set was a Lionel # 1037 40-watt. Set # 1405. Also there wer two other 027 freight sets that a # 1666 engine was used with in 1946 ( 1409, 1409W, and 1411W), and found only one freight set (3105) that it was used with for 1947, and it had rubber stamped numbers rather than a number plate.
