lionel 442 , wheres all the smoke!

Hello, i am currently in n scale which doesnt deal with steamengines that have smoke, However for christmas i have a lionel 442 steamer that goes around my tree, i just bought it this year and it says that it smokes, it comes with a little while and black squrit tube, (that leaks) ive ran the train about a total of mabye 10 hours. and ill notice that sometimes a little somke will come out here and there, but its barely noticiable, only thing noticable is the smell. So im wondering if anyone out there knows about how these engines smoke, and how to get more out of em/ or is it the smoke, or is it the engine, just me. I love to watch steamers smoke, and im kinda dissapointed that its not presnt as much as i would like, also i have found that if i leave it in neutral i will see this white smokey bubble form and a ton will come out, after that its back to nothing, okay well, ill wait for a reply

thanks, and have a great christmas everyone

Tim

HI Nscaleboy,

On a Lionel engine, you should be adding smoke fluid (4 to6 drops) about every ½ hour of operation.

Have you added any fluid since you got the engine [?]

If not, you may have damage the smoke unit.

BTW – the best place for help is on the CTT part of this forum, here is the link

hope this helps
