Lionel 6-12027 vs. 6-12029 insulated track

I recently purchased the Lionel Fastrack Grade Crossing (6-12062) which comes with what is marked as two 6-12027 5" insulated tracks with “breaks” which activate the gates and bells as the train approaches. I would like to supplement the 5" tracks with two more insulated tracks but have been told that the number I want is the 6-12029 which has the breaks. Can I just use the 10" Accessory Activation Extender Track? There is no break in this track. Thanks!

I think I answered your previous post.

Pull up the manual here. You can make your own extender tracks. jus take a regular track and remove the strips that tie the outer rails together. Use them in between the Isolated tracks that came with the crossing gate to make a longer activated section.

BigAl - Thanks for the recommendation; needless to say, I didn’t read the full section of the manual but now understand exactly what you meant.
