I found this engine on ebay, and it strangely says “Turbo” instead of turbine on the bottom plate of the engine. Could this be a rare variation, or a factory misprint? I don’t know alot about these engines but just seemed wierd to me.
It does say “TURBO” - it looks like the real thing…:

looks to me like the “plate” was made on a dymo labeler and the screws are different. clearly not original.
This is the 1947 version of this loco, since there is an e-unit lever sticking up through the top of the engine. The lettering on the collector plate that you are referring to was standard for that model. The screws look like they could be replacements.
Turbo is correct. The screws are not. They should be binding head screws with flatish heads. The sloppy lettering could be from overzealous cleaning with mineral spirits or maybe oil with some kind of detergent was used on the axles.
Oh, I still have alot to learn about these old trains. Where do you guys get the info!!![sigh]
I have a 671 and looked. The plate is identical except the lettering is much crisper. The service manual also shows the plate with turbo on it.
He claims to be a 3rd party seller and has no way of testing. I checked out his other auctions and he has a bunch of Matchbox (a couple I’m looking for…LOL) and other doo dads, a good seller rating so he sounds legit. He says the wheels turn freely and there appears to be a motor through the window. You may be able to rub out the scuff marks on the tender shell with Armor All or Back to black auto detailer. If I were to crap shoot on it, I would go no higher than 75 bucks and assume it needs complete servicing.
Thanks but, I wasn’t going to buy the engine, I wasn’t interested in it, just thought it was wierd that it said Turbo on the bottom. Plus I cant afford it. LOL!! My 2426 tender has lots of scuff marks and the furnature polish only makes them stand out more, should I try removing those with Armer All?
Depends on the nature of the scuff marks. Armol All won’t remove them, it can hide them if the base plastic (or bakelite) is black. There is a matte finish Armor All.

There are lots scuff marks, but I can live with them.
