Lionel 726-51 Performance over 022 switches

My 1946 Lionel # 726 Eunit activates and changes direction when it goes over any one of my 8 #022 switches.

The Eunit has been rebuilt and works well except over these switches. Any ideas?

Good Morning!

Jay, have to say you are in the “right church, but wrong pew”. This part of the forum is primarily for N and HO scale model railroaders. Those that are into Flyer or Lionel are found (mostly) in the Classic Toy Trains section of the forum. I urge you to post your question there.

I do happen to have a history of postwar Lionel, and can’t recall having the type problem you mention. My wildest guess is that one or more of the 022s are not properly powered, but that is all I can come up with.

The E-units I’m used to activate when the track power goes to zero. So, I’d take my locos off the track, dig out my voltmeter, crank up the power, and see if any part of the switch isn’t getting power. Clip one lead to one of the outside rails and probe around the center sections to see if there’s power. It can also go the other way by clipping onto the center rail next to the switch and making sure the outer switch rails show a voltage differential.

that’s where I’d start.

And going to the other forum sub-group can’t hurt.
