Hi All,
I Can’t make up my mind. Which one would you get if you had to choose between the two of them?

That is a real easy choice for me
CHESSIE !!!

I’d vote for the F7 set from second best railroad in the east - the Pennsy.
I would want the F7 diesel. I don’t think you can go wrong with a PRR ABA locomotive.
If I had a lot of Streamlined Passenger cars, I would buy the F7’s, but since I don’t, and because I like smaller Diesel’s, and want more freight cars, I would go with the Chessie Diesel Freight. ( It may be coming for Christmas, and hopefully the 2nd powered version of the same loco with a different #)
Bob, I’m thinking you like the NYC more, right? PRR is the best IMHO.
Hi Guys,
Well… I decided… I just got off of the phone with Justrains. I ordered the F7. Not sure when I will get it but at least it is ordered. Lionel’s web site says that they have shipped it, but Justrains has not received any yet. I also ordered a PRR 40’ flat car to go with it. I am kind of excited, this is my first Standard O locomotive and rolling stock and my first new loco in about a year.
Colin, I was thinking along the same lines as you…getting two GP-30’s, but I really like the looks of the F7 over a GP-30. Besides F7’s hauled freight too. At least that is what I was told.
I like the F7’s too, but what I can get for the area I have right now is limited. When I get the O72 curves installed on the new layout, I will see if I can get enough money to buy the F7’s, and a set of streamlined passenger cars to go with them. It is true that the F7’s did haul freight, but they look better with passenger cars in my opinion.
If I had room for bigger curves I would get some passenger cars for my F7’s too. I just have not been able to find a way to make room for 060 or 072 curves. I do agree that F7’s do look better with passenger cars though. I was also looking at the PW Santa Fe $3 passenger set but it does not have speed control and I really wanted to get a standard o loco.
